At approximately 5:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th, Brownfield Fire & Rescue responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of South 1st Street and Tate.

According to law enforcement on the scene, a female driver in a maroon late-model Lincoln SUV was stopped at the traffic light on West Tate facing east. When the light turned green, she began to enter the intersection. At that moment, a male driver traveling southbound in the right lane on South 1st Street in a semi-truck hauling an unloaded peanut trailer failed to stop at the red light at South 1st Street and Tate Street and collided with the Lincoln.

The Brownfield PD reported that the driver of the Lincoln was being treated at the scene by BRMC EMS and was later transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver received a citation for failing to stop at a red light.

Brownfield PD, Brownfield FRD, and BRMC EMS responded to the accident.
