IT’S BACK!!! It is never too early to start planning for Christmas, more specifically, the Christmas Light Parade, which has quickly become a Brownfield tradition! Woo Hoo!
This is the third year for Christmas Light Parade, and the planning committee is excited for another great event with many participants. This year’s parade will take place on Monday, December 2nd, starting at 6 p.m.his is the third year for this parade and the planning committee is looking forward to another great parade with lots of participants. This year’s parade will be held on Monday, December 2nd, beginning at 6 p.m.
The parade route will closely resemble the Harvest Festival Parade route, beginning at Coleman Park and making its way to the Terry County Courthouse. There, Santa and Mrs. Claus will step off the fire truck and enter the Courthouse to listen to all the children’s Christmas wishes. This year, parade participants will line up in the parking lot of the Sports Complex located within the park.
The parade welcomes individuals, businesses, schools, and organizations to participate. You can enter a car, pickup truck, tractor, trailer, motorcycle, or golf cart. All vehicles must be capable of traveling at five miles per hour for the entire parade route. Please note that walkers are not permitted in the parade.
All entries must have a Christmas theme and NEEDS to include Christmas lighting. The more lights, the better! Additionally, for safety reasons, no candy should be thrown from any vehicle. The darkness of the evening makes it difficult to see children running after candy. Thank you for your understanding!
To enter the contest for Best Decorated, Best Organization, Best Business, Best Individual, or Best Golf Cart or Motorcycle, please visit Brownfield City Hall to register.
Once the parade rounds the Courthouse and Santa and the Missus have arrived, there will be lots of activities on the Courthouse Square, as well as inside the Courthouse. Look for all kinds of people in costume, from the Gingerbread Man to the Grinch! There will be coloring sheets, Story Time with Grandma, and hot chocolate and cookies available for all. Who knows what other surprises will greet you on The Square? This year, there will also be food vendors on the South side of the Courthouse.
The committee hopes that all businesses along the parade route will show their spirit by decorating up big time. An award will be given for the Best Decorated Business on the Parade Route. So, if you have a business along the route, please participate! We want to light up Brownfield in a really big way this year.
