Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant Opens Up

The Office of the Governor and Texas Economic Development are announcing a new application period for the Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant and it could help certain Terry County businesses

This grant could prove useful for businesses in Terry County. This is more recovery efforts for businesses involved in travel and hospitality that were negatively impacted during the pandemic.

“We were excited to get news of this grant application period opening up. We still have businesses in Terry County trying to recover from the closures during the COVID pandemic,” stated Brownfield Industrial Development Executive Director Gina Kelly. “We do not have any additional information on this grant, aside from what is presented here, but will be glad to try to answer any questions you might have concerning your business’s eligibility. We hope all eligible businesses will take this opportunity to apply for this grant.”

Starting February 1, 2023, a new application category will open for the Texas Travel Industry Recovery Grant(TTIR) program through the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office. The TTIR Program provides one-time grants of up to $20,000 for the recovery of Texas businesses in the tourism, travel, and hospitality industry that were negatively impacted during the pandemic.

The new TTIR category opens applications February 1 for the following NAICS codes and also reopens the application process for all previous applicants who may now qualify for funding or for additional funding:

NAICS Code and Industry

  • 53211 – Passenger Car Rental
  • 487990 – Sightseeing, Transportation, Other
  • 485510 – Charter Bus Industry
  • 312120 – Breweries, Microbreweries
  • 312130 – Wineries
  • 312140 – Distilleries
  • 5615 – Travel arrangement services, Visitors  Bureaus
  • 7212 – RV Parks, Recreational Campgrounds
  • 71 – Arts, Entertainment, Recreation
  • 7211 – Travel accommodations, Hotels, B&B
  • 722 – Food Service and Drinking places

Applicants must submit supporting documents along with their application to demonstrate compliance with grant and eligibility requirements. This application round will remain open until the remaining funds are dispersed. For eligibility and grant application details, deadlines, an application instruction video, and the TTIR application portal visit ttir.gov.texas.gov.

The TTIR Program was established by Senate Bill 8 and signed into law by the Governor following the 87th Legislative Session to administer $180 million of funds received from the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund under the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
