Yoakum County Library Plains celebrates moms and all mother-figures on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
The excited group of youngsters included Rhea, Sadie, Case, and Levi. After discussing the weather and calendar, including counting to 10 in English and Spanish, the “Days of the Week” was quietly sung.
Starting with the special Mother’s Day craft, the children enjoyed painting a bouquet for mom using celery as the paintbrush. Then the group began the read-aloud time with Bill Martin’s “Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?”
The next two books focused solely on the upcoming Mother’s Day celebration: “Special Day for Mommy” and “Biscuit Loves Mother’s Day.” The last book was a smile-inducing “Say What?” The group also gathered for a STEAM time of classifying pom poms. A short Scholastic Books video (“Is Your Mama a Llama?”) rounded out the time together. The group took home their flower artwork as well as multiple do-at-home fun.
