Texas Tech was well represented in the Olympic trials as athletes competed and qualified for the Olympics. Starting with Tech-alum Monae’ Nichols, she was on her last and final long jump. With everything on the line, she would jump an astonishing 6.86 meters. Her seasonal best, meeting the Olympic standard and ranking third. For a side note personal best is 6.97 meters in 2022.

Alaysha Johnson would compete in the 100m hurdles. Competing for tech in 2019, Johnson leaned on her experience to finish in second place with a time of 12.31. She was silencing the doubters she had and triumphing over any negativity she faced. She and the other two qualifiers would have a split difference of .06 seconds in their placings.
These two athletes will go on to compete at the highest level in France at for the Olympics. The games will begin from 26, July 2024 to 11, August 2024.
