Primary Election Voting Day March 3rd

by admin

Early voting will wrap up on Friday, February 28th for the March 3rd Primary Election. On Tuesday, those who did not early vote will need to find their way to their polling places. Early voting continues to be open on Friday until 8 p.m. at the Terry County Annex.

On Primary Election Day, if you live outside of Meadow or Wellman, you will vote at the American Legion, at 1021 South 8th Street. If you live in Meadow, you will vote at the Meadow Community Center at 904 1st Street. If you are a Wellman resident, you will vote at the Wellman Community Center at 5th and Terry in Wellman. Voting time is from 7 a.m. through 7 p.m. Be sure to bring identification with you. You must declare at voting time whether you will be voting on the Democrat or the Republican ballot. This is confidential information, but you must declare one or another on voting day, in order to receive the correct ballot. In the General Election in November, you may vote either party or even both on the same ballot. You are not tied in to one party simply because you voted in that party’s Primary.

As of noon on Friday, 1,016 people had voted in Early voting. 950 of these voted Republican and 66 voted Democrat.

This is a major election year and there are some very important races being voted on this year, such as President of the United States. Locally, the only contested races are that of Sheriff, which has three Republican candidates and no Democrat, and County Tax Assessor-Collector, which has two Republican candidates and no Democrat.

You can go back to TownTalkradio.com’s previous post on the election for a look at the ballots. A reminder; the propositions on the back of the ballots are for Party Platform only and not issues being voted into law. They are, nevertheless important to study and make an informed decision on.
