The Denver City Math and Science team recently traveled to Idalou, where they competed in the Wildcat Invitational UIL practice meet.
Nine DCHS students attended including seniors were Karley David, Cristian Cortez, Kelly Ann Dougherty, Cole McLeroy, and Katy Patterson.
Joining them were juniors Ray Carrasco, Gehrig Curtis, and John Michael Davis, and representing the sophomore class was Brice Mansur.
The students competed in the A thru AAA division in their own grade level.
Results of this meet included Karley was 4th in Number Sense, 4th in Math, and 5th in Science; Kelly Ann was 2nd in Calculator; Cole was 2nd in Calculator and 3rd in Science; and Katy was 3rd in math and 6th in Science.
For the junior class Ray was 4th in Science; Gehrig was 4th Calculator and 1st in Science; and John Michael was 5th in Math and 6th in Science.
And for the sophomores Brice was 3rd in Math.
In the overall scores, Cole had the 2nd highest Number Sense score and the 4th highest
Mathematics Score; Karley had the 4th highest Number Sense score and the 5th highest Mathematics score; Kelly Ann had the 5th highest Calculator score.
The Number Sense team, the Calculator team, the Math team, and the Science team all finished in second place.
“We were missing some key students, but we still had success,” Coach Richie Cullins said. “I was very proud of the way the students performed.”
