Math and Science teams excel at meet

The Denver City Math and Science team recently traveled to Idalou, where they competed in the Wildcat Invitational UIL practice meet.

Nine DCHS students attended including seniors were Karley David, Cristian Cortez, Kelly Ann Dougherty, Cole McLeroy, and Katy Patterson.

Joining them were juniors Ray Carrasco, Gehrig Curtis, and John Michael Davis, and representing the sophomore class was Brice Mansur.

The students competed in the A thru AAA division in their own grade level.

Results of this meet included Karley was 4^th in Number Sense, 4^th in Math, and 5^th in Science; Kelly Ann was 2^nd in Calculator; Cole was 2^nd in Calculator and 3^rd in Science; and Katy was 3^rd in math and 6^th in Science.

For the junior class Ray was 4^th in Science; Gehrig was 4^th Calculator and 1^st in Science; and John Michael was 5^th in Math and 6^th in Science.

And for the sophomores Brice was 3^rd in Math.

In the overall scores, Cole had the 2^nd highest Number Sense score and the 4^th highest

Mathematics Score; Karley had the 4^th highest Number Sense score and the 5^th highest Mathematics score; Kelly Ann had the 5^th highest Calculator score.

The Number Sense team, the Calculator team, the Math team, and the Science team all finished in second place.

“We were missing some key students, but we still had success,” Coach Richie Cullins said. “I was very proud of the way the students performed.”
