Making a Difference

The moisture we got last week was very nice and was certainly very welcomed! We need tons more, but that was certainly a start! It was a refreshing change for us.There is something about rainfall, to me, that just symbolizes new growth and change. It shows me that there is going to be a better day coming. All things that grow in the ground need moisture for growth. We need the same thing.

Oh, maybe actual rainfall doesn’t help us grow, but the “showers of blessings” we see each day do help us to grow. We need to know that we serve a good and precious God. We need to know that He is seeing us each minute of each day and caring for us in ways that only He can. We need to learn to look with bigger eyes. Eyes that can look at problems and view them as opportunities for growth. Each problem we encounter is an opportunity for God to flex His muscles for us.

I was talking with someone earlier this morning who is going through a rough patch in her life. She has pretty much withdrawn from God’s people and those who love her and want to help her. She recognizes that she has done this and is struggling to fix it. She told me she is new at learning to listen to God and has a hard time figuring out exactly what that means. I told her that it was just like with our friends. You have to be around them and listen to them before you learn to recognize their voice.

God is strongest in our weakness. The devil loves our weaknesses. That is where he likes to attack. He tries to sell us on the idea that we are not capable, that we are unlovable, that no one but him will ever love us the way we deserve to be loved. I see so many posts on social media that reinforce this! It just infuriates me to see so many saying they are tired of taking care of every else and no one is taking care of them. They feel like they should put themselves first. That is straight up the devil talking. We are here to love and care for others. And we do all this inside the love and care of God’s strong hands. We don’t have to look for validation from the world. We find it in God and God alone.

God’s blessings are all around you. He is loving you and caring for you each second of each day. If it bothers you, He is handling it. Now don’t misunderstand. He is not going to take each of our problems away. What He is going to do is to help us have the strength to face each day with courage and faith.

What a great difference rainfall makes in our world and what a great difference recognizing the showers of blessings from God should make for us too! Go make a difference for someone today!
