Making a Difference

See what it says in the title up there? Making a difference. That is what we are all called to do in all things, every day. It is our responsibility. It is our daily job.

Making a difference is just not that hard. Oh sure, if you think about it on a national level, it can be overwhelming to think about anything we do here making a huge impact on the big scale. But, nowhere in the Bible does it say Go big or Go home. In fact, in the Great Commission, He starts locally then expands the horizons. So, making a difference should start with you, right here, locally. That is the plan.

If you see a need, meet it! It is not that difficult. Someone is struggling to open a door with their hands full. Open the door! Someone drops something. Stop and pick it up for them! Some kids have a lemonade stand. Stop and buy a glass, even if you pour it out after you get down the street and out of sight. Their day was made because you stopped.

If you see someone who needs loved, love them. Show compassion. Show grace and understanding. Show them Jesus. That’s all! Just show them Jesus. If we, as Christians, would spend more time showing the world Jesus on a daily basis, what a huge difference it would make. The world needs Jesus a whole lot more than they need our political opinions… Just sayin’.

There are many people, even right here in our own little community, who have no clue who Jesus is or what He did for them. If they are within your boundaries, they are your responsibility. It is your daily job to show everyone with whom you come in contact that Jesus is the Lord of your life. Can you just imagine what a difference that could make? What if we all did that! What if we all committed to getting up each day, jumping out of bed, ready to show the world Jesus in our lives!

People are watching us. Probably now more than ever. No matter what your opinion on the different things going on in our world, above all else, show the world who you serve. Now is the time to put that letter jacket on with the big old “C” on it for Christian and proudly go around town letting your world know you serve a risen Savior. You serve a Savior that came to earth and lived as a man, suffered a horribly agonizing death and three days later arose. He did all of this with your name on His lips. He did all of this for you. His hope is that we would show the world just a little taste of that same love and compassion. Show the world a glimpse of what life can be with the Savior as our guide.

Making a difference is not just a catchy little phrase. It is my goal each day.  Do something today to show the world what a mighty God we serve and get out there and start making a difference. It starts with you!
