Making a Difference

Friday night, at the football field, the mosquitoes were awful! They were as big as hummingbirds and were eating everyone alive! Well, that could be a bit of an exaggeration, but they did look a bit large. I knew I had mosquito spray in my car, so I went to get it. I quickly became the most popular person in the stadium. I sprayed people from the car all the way to the goal line! The police, the head of maintenance, the cheerleaders, the trainers, the players and the coaches. Everyone wanted what I had.

That has been on my mind this week. I easily shared the remedy I had for the problem everyone was facing. It was an easy thing. I love these people and I wanted to be sure they were protected from the issue at hand. Surely you can see where this is going.

As Christians, we have the remedy the world so desperately needs. We have the solution to the problems the world faces. We have the answer living right in our hearts. It was such an easy thing to share my, as my family says, “skeetie spray” with everyone there. In fact, I wished I had more. Why is it so hard for us to share what Jesus has done for us?

On Sunday nights, we have been going through the book of Mark. We are to the betrayal and the arrest. As Tommy was teaching last week, I was almost moved to tears at the heartbreak of our Savior as He begged God for another way, yet walked willingly to what He knew was His destiny. We forget that He was a man. We want to always think of Him as God. But, I think in that moment more than any other He was more man than God. But He willingly went on the path that was marked out for Him, knowing the agony that was awaiting Him. And we find it hard to share…

We have got to be more intentional in reaching our world around us. We have access to the cure and we need to be about sharing that with others. In our community, we all know people who do not have a relationship with the Savior. Knowing about Jesus is not the same as inviting Him to live in your heart. Make a list of those you know who likely do not have that saving relationship with Him. Ask God to help you make a plan to reach them before it is too late.

Hear that ticking sound? That is time slipping away. Be diligent. Share the knowledge of the saving grace of the Savior as easily as you share anything else with others. It will make a difference for all eternity.
