The Whitharral and Hockley County community mourn the loss of 15-year-old Whitharral today as he was tragically killed in a rollover accident on Sunday afternoon, October 1, 2023. According to TxDPS, a 15-year-old minor male was driving a 2006, Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and was traveling north on Hartford Road, just south of Jamaica Road (Approximately 9 miles northwest of Levelland) The Silverado traveled off the roadway’s left side and into the ditch on the west side. The driver overcorrected to the right, causing the truck to travel across the road and into the opposite ditch. The Silverado rolled before coming to a final rest.
the 15-year-old driver was pronounced deceased on the scene due to injuries sustained during the crash. According to TxDPS, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
