Leon L. Foote SEMINOLE-Funeral services for Leon L. Foote, 89, of Seminole will be conducted Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating assisted by Ben Meith and Roger Foote. Interment will follow in the Gaines County Memorial Cemetery with services under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole. Leon was born Nov. 4, 1925, in Winters, Texas, to Ernest and Clara Foote. Leon served in the United States Army during WWII from 1944-1946, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He moved to Seminole from Brownfield in 1959 where he farmed for many years in Terry County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Leon owned and operated Gaines County Farm Supply from 1965-2000. Leon was preceded in death by his first wife, Tommie Cypert Foote in June of 1995; also a brother, Delbert Foote; and two grandchildren. Leon is survived by his wife, Dorothy Foote of Seminole; three sons, Jerry Foote and wife, Donna of Seminole, David Foote and his wife, Joni of Lubbock, Roger Foote and his wife, Elaine of Plainview; three daughters, Tyra Decker Manning of Boerne, Gay King and her husband, Randy of Seminole, Ina Beth Lane and her husband, Larry of New Braunfels; two sisters, Zelma Miller of Brownfield, and Wilda Warren of San Angelo; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to International Commission, 260 Continental Dr., Lewisville, TX 75067 or Wayland Baptist University, 1900 West 7th, Plainview, TX 79072. Family and friends visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 5th from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Ratliff Funeral Home in Seminole.
