Lance Payne Bennett, 46 passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Nov. 3, 1970. He was married to Maria Roby. Lance grew up in Denver City, Texas, and graduated from Denver City High School in 1989. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1989 until 1992, was a veteran of the Desert Storm conflict.
Lance is survived by his wife, Maria Roby of Lubbock; his father, Gene Chip Bennet and wife, Darla of Abilene; his mother, Lynda Nichols and her husband, Tom C. Nichols of Colleyville, Texas; one brother, Blu Gene Bennett and his wife, Kelly of Flower Mound, Texas; his grandmothers, Vera Lorine Bennett of Lubbock and Katherine Deshawn and husband, Preston of Lubbock; stepbrothers, Rusty Bennett and wife, Heather of Midland, Beau Bennett and wife, Joni of Harrison, AR, Scott Nichols and wife, Paula of Weatherford, Paul Nichols and wife, Samantha of Prosper, Texas; and host of cousins, nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to MD Anderson Cancer Research in Houston, or Hospice of Lubbock. Private disposition is under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
