July 8, 1947 – February 4, 2022
JoDee Meil Wilson was born on July 8, 1947, in Brownfield, Texas. She resided in Little Elm, Texas and passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022.
She was the eldest daughter of Dee Whitt and Cleta Joan Meil and sister of Melanie Hodges. Her father, mother, and sister preceded her in death. She married Ernest W. Wilson on July 12, 2003, in Duncanville, Texas who also preceded her in death eleven years later. She is survived by her daughter, Shasta Freeman (husband, Tim) and son, Erin Andrew Smith (wife, Teal), four grandchildren, Madison Smith, Morgan Smith, Kristen Rock, Tyler Rock (fiancé, Michaela) and one great-grandchild, Liam Rock.
JoDee married the love of her life, Ernest Wilson, as the first wedding to take place at their very own wedding chapel. They built Enchanted Memories on the Hill from the ground up on a beautiful, wooded property in Duncanville, Texas. At this venue, JoDee and Ernie ensured many brides had a day as special as theirs was.
JoDee loved socializing with her friends, spending time with her family, and had a soft spot in her heart for dogs. She spent countless hours volunteering at various organizations. Though she rescued many dogs who quickly became her family, those residing with her and holding a special place in her heart were Finn, Kramer, and Sophie. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A private memorial and family interment of ashes will be held at a later date this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Marley’s Mutts
