The Fillies overcame a 3-0 deficit Tuesday against the Lubbock Titans on the Fillies home turf to earn a 12-6 win.
After the Titans opened the game with 3 runs in the top of the first inning the Fillies came back with a single run in their half of the second and then took the lead for good with 6 more in the third. The Titans narrowed the score to 7-6 with three more in their half of the fourth inning, but the Fillies came back with 3 more in their half of the fourth and added two more in the bottom of the fifth.
In their 6 runs in the third the Fillies scored on an RBI singles by Jewel Santillan, Isela Chavez, and Heidi Gonzales, a fielder’s choice, and a single by Julie Barrientes.
Hanna Gonzales reached base three times in the game for the Fillies. She scored two runs and had one RBI, singled in the second, and doubled in the fourth inning.
Haleigh Gonzales started the game and went the first four innings for the Fillies. She gave up 6 runs on 7 hits, had four strike outs and issued one base on balls. Jewel Santillan finished out the last 3 innings giving no runs, no hits and had one strike out.
After the Titans cut the lead to a single run the Fillies put up three runs in the fourth. They scored on an RBI double by Gonzales and a two-run single by Bailey Marin.
They then added two more runs in the fifth on a sacrifice fly scored Kelsey De La Rosa to open the scoring in the frame.
The Fillies will be back in town on Saturday when they entertain Sundown in a 12 noon start.
District play gets underway on Tuesday when they travel to Slaton for a 5 pm start. This will be followed on Friday with a noon start against Idalou.
