The Fillies fought off a late inning rally by visiting Sundown on Saturday to close out their non-district schedule with an 8-6 win.
The Fillies came up with 2 runs in the 2nd and 4th innings and then added 4 more in the 5th after the Lady Roughnecks had closed the gap to 8-2. Sundown plated 4 runs in the top of the 7th to make it a two run game but the Fillies held on for the win.
Haley Villerreal, Jewel Santillan, and Haleigh Gonzales all finished with two hits and Denisse Saenz, Heidi Gonzales, Hanna Gonzales, and Kelsey De La Rosa each had one hit.
Villerreal and Santillan both had 2 RBI’s with Santillan’s two coming on a shot over the left\center field fence in the 4 run 4th inning.
Haleigh went the first four and a third innings giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, struck out 4 and walked one. Santillan went the final two and two thirds innings giving up four runs on five hits, walked one and struck out one.
The Fillies opened district play on Tuesday in Slaton.
