Voters will be going to the polls on Saturday, May 6, where they will be placing three candidates on the Denver City ISD school board.

However, the election for three City Council members and the Mayor was cancelled following the February 17 deadline when only the incumbents filed for reelection.

Only the incumbents filed for seats on the City Council and the Mayor’s position. Joan Breith, Ronald Weir, and Robert Hanneman will serve another two year term while Mayor Tommy Hicks also did not draw an opponent and will also hold his seat for another two years.

However things were not the same for the DCISD School Board as four candidates filed for three seats. Joey Rodgers was the only incumbent to file for another 3-year term and will be joined by hopefuls David Mitchell, Cody Williams, and Jess Roberts.

Incumbents Connie Lozano and Brian Sutton chose to not run for another term of office.

A couple of days remain for early voting in the school board election that will end on Tuesday, May 2. The hours for the last two days of early voting will be from 8 am to 8 pm with all voting taking place at the Denver City City Hall.

Voting on Saturday, May 6, will also be held at the City Hall from the hours of 7 am to 7 pm.

Terms for DCISD school board are for three years while the City Council and Mayor’s position is a two year term.
