The Denver City City Council met in regular session on Monday night, February 15, where they addressed their bi-monthly agenda.
In the first item on the agenda the Council considered an ordinance concerning a local alcohol option election. City Manager Stan David informed the council that a local citizen had obtained the necessary170 signatures on a petition that required the Council to put it on the agenda.
An ordinance was presented, which called for accepting a petition supporting a local alcohol option election to legalize the sale of mixed beverages in restaurants by food and beverage certificate holders only. The Council considered and approved the order for the special election for alcohol mixed drink sales.
For the second item the Council approved an order of election for May 7, 2016. Up for grabs will be three council seats currently held by Barbara Qualls, Dalphene Benson, and Keith Mensch. The Election Day is on May 7 with early voting to be held from April 25 through May 2.
And in the last item, David went over current billing practices for residents and businesses getting their water and gas bills and what time period this billing affected.
He went over when meters were read, when bills were sent out and due dates. He was asking the Council to consider changing these dates so usage and billing were closer together. No action was taken at this time.
