Christmas Light Parade Coming Soon!

by Eric

Come join the parade and be involved with this fun event. We need you!

IT’S BACK, and we are gonna have some FUN!!! This is the third year of the Christmas Light Parade, and the planning committee is excited about another great event featuring many participants. The parade will occur on Monday, December 2nd, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The parade route will closely follow the Harvest Festival Parade route, however it will go the opposite direction! Beginning at Coleman Park and proceeding to the Terry County Courthouse. At the courthouse, Santa and Mrs. Claus will disembark from the fire truck to hear the Christmas wishes of all the children. This year, parade participants will assemble in the parking lot of the Sports Complex located within Coleman Park.

The parade invites individuals, businesses, schools, and organizations to participate. You can enter a car, pickup truck, tractor, trailer, motorcycle, or golf cart. All vehicles must be capable of traveling at five miles per hour for the entire parade route. Please note that walkers are not permitted in the parade.

All entries must have a Christmas theme and must include Christmas lighting. The more lights, the better! Additionally, for safety reasons, no candy should be thrown from any vehicle, as the darkness of the evening makes it difficult to see children running after candy.

Thank you for your understanding!

To enter the contest for Best Decorated, Best Organization, Best Business, Best Individual, or Best Golf Cart or Motorcycle, please visit Brownfield City Hall to register. 201 W Broadway St

Once the parade rounds the Courthouse and Santa and the Missus have arrived, there will be lots of activities on the Courthouse Square, as well as inside the Courthouse. Look for all kinds of people in costume, from the Gingerbread Man to the Grinch! There will be coloring sheets, Story Time with Grandma, and hot chocolate and cookies available for all. Who knows what other surprises will greet you on The Square? This year, there will also be food vendors on the South side of the Courthouse.

The committee hopes that all businesses along the parade route will show their spirit by decorating up big time. An award will be given for the Best Decorated Business on the Parade Route. So, if you have a business along the route, please participate! We want to light up Brownfield in a really big way this year.

Let’s make this Christmas the brightest one yet!
