A Brownfield man, Billy Jack Clayton, has been arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid after a construction worker working on the Marsha Sharp Freeway in Lubbock was hit by a vehicle on August 14, 2020.
The crash happened around 2:15 on the Marsha Sharp Freeway near Upland Ave. The Lubbock Police Department Major Crash Investigation Unit investigated the crash and were able to identify the suspect vehicle and the driver.

The driver of the vehicle, now identified as 36-year-old Clayton, was arrested after a warrant was issued.
He is a resident of Brownfield, Texas, but his drivers license states he is from Tatum, New Mexico.
He is currently in the Terry County Jail being held on a combined bond of $300,000. He has been charged with failure to stop and render aid, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a controlled substance and fraudulent use or possession of identifying information.
The construction worker was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but an update on his condition has not been released to the public.
