The Annual Terry County Farm Tour for Kids was held on Friday, April 23 and Meadow and Wellman-Union kiddos were able to get out and see how various types of farming and ranching activities actually work. This is an annual event that was not able to happen last year, due to the pandemic.
The tour made two stops and various activities were available at each stop.
The group visited Steve Osborn’s farm and while there saw cattle operations, and got to experience working with chickens and peacocks, along with learning about pecans. Michelle Cooper, Education Coordinator for the Southern Ogallala Conservation and Outreach Program was there with the Education trailer. The Texas Forest Service was also there.
The group also traveled to the Day Ranch where they saw more cattle and learned more about the cattle industry, plus The Wildlife Rehab Center was there with Gail Barnes. Game Warden Andrew Banda was there, as well as Katie Day and Katie Jane Seaton.
The Terry County Soil and Water Conservation District organized the day and furnished lunch for presenters and teachers, and water for all participants.
