Accountability Rating Released for Seagraves ISD

SeagravesSolidThe Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released 2016 Accountability Ratings for all Texas schools.

Overall 94% of Texas School Districts received the Met Standard Rating.

Districts and campuses receive one of two ratings, met standard or improvement required.

Seagraves ISD met standard at all campuses on all Indexes (1-4).

The accountability system is based on success in four indexes:

  • Index 1- Student Achievement
  • Index 2- Student Progress
  • Index 3- Closing Achievement Gaps
  • Index 4 – Post-Secondary Readiness

SISD Superintendent Kevin Spiller said, “Although we are pleased that we Met Standard in regards to the Texas accountability system, we realize that there are quite frankly many more important ways to determine the success of public schools.  We tend to view the state accountability system as an ineffective and biased measure that is not fair and equitable to all students. With that being said, at Seagraves ISD we do understand that it is legislatively mandated and is a requirement that must be met by our students for promotion at certain grade levels and ultimately for a high school diploma.”

**To receive a Met Standard rating, districts and campuses must meet targets on three indices: Index 1 or Index 2 and Index 3 and Index 4.
