Making a Difference

“But Jesus said to them, “Who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered Him, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:15-16

I have been reading this scripture this week. It seems like an easy enough question to answer, even though other answers were given in the preceding verses. Peter had the right answer. Jesus is the Christ. The Son of the living God. He is the Messiah. The One they had all been waiting on. And that is exactly who I would say that He is. But, there is more to think about here.

Who does your life say that He is? It is easy enough to announce that He is the Christ. We sing praises to Him in church. We attend church. We attend church activities. We invite others. All of this points to the fact that we believe He is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. But what about your life? Who are you on Monday after you attend church on Sunday?

There used to be a song long years ago. I haven’t heard it in years. The lyrics were, “Sunday’s child. Don’t be a Sunday’s child. On Sunday he is quite a saint. But on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Saturday a saint he ain’t!”  I think we all know people like this. We may all be people like this!

If we are going to call ourselves Christians, then we should be living a life that honors God. A life that says, “Yes I serve God! And yes! Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God!” We must live lives that point other to the cross. We must live lives that make people want what we have.

No one is going to live a sinless life. We will all struggle and fall short many times. But, if you have given your heart to Him and committed to serve Him and accept His free gift of forgiveness, our lives should show it. Even in times of struggle, people should be able to watch us and recognize that we are His.

In Exodus 34, it talks about how Moses’ face glowed when he came down from the mountain where he had been with God. Does your face glow? Does your life glow? Can people tell you have been with the Savior? Oh my prayer is that my life will glow with the joy that I have because I am His and He is mine!

“Jesus said to them, Who do you say that I am?” How you answer that question makes a difference!
