Making a Difference

I talk a lot about living intentionally. I think we should live each day with purpose and a plan. And I think we should treat the accidental happenings of our day as intentionally planned for us. I believe that God orchestrates our day from start to finish. He knows where we are going and He knows who we will see. From the planned interaction to chatting with the person carrying out your groceries, each moment is a planned opportunity for you.

There is a verse in the Bible where Paul writes, “Run to win.” He is talking about how we are to be dedicated in following God in all we do. He says, “In a race, only one wins the prize, so run to win.” This is in 1 Corinthians 9. A few verses down, He states, “I run with purpose in every step.” Paul saw the plan and the need for walking, or living, with purpose. We discipline ourselves to live our best lives in Christ and through Christ. A life of intentionality shows. People can tell when you are running your race with purpose, and not just trying to make it to 5 pm each day. Intentionality shows in the way you do your job and in everything you do.

Paul talks to the church at Corinth about how our purpose in life is, ultimately, to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ with the rest of the world. When folks see you living a life of dedication and following the Holy Spirit, they will want to know what is different about you, and perhaps, want that for themselves. How we live our life in front of the world matters a great deal. I get so tired of hearing people say, “I don’t care what anyone else thinks. I am going to do what makes me happy.” I have a news flash for you. That is not Godly thinking. How we live and the choices we make matter a great deal.

As you head into this next week, think about living a life of intention. A life of running to win the prize. A life dedicated to doing all you can to be sure others can have a new life in Christ, and be assured of knowing that one day they will be in heaven with the Savior! Oh what a difference your life can make in someone else’s life! Don’t you want that?

Intentionally live your life in front of the world! It will make a difference!
