Tomorrow Saturday, July 15, 2023, several kids in Brownfield will have the opportunity to learn a little about how small business works and sell ice-cold lemonade and other treats! The Brownfield Industrial Development Corporation (BIDCorp) and Brownfield Federal Credit Union (BFCU) are working together to sponsor a Lemonade Day event for Brownfield kids.
Lemonade Day events are held throughout summer across the country and Rhonda Duncan, Director of BFCU, and Gina Kelly, Director of BIDCorp thought this would be a great opportunity for some learning disguised as fun. According to Duncan and Kelly, there will be 20 lemonade stands across Brownfield.
“We are hoping our kids can learn a little about what it takes to make a profit in a business and how you have to learn to watch that bottom line. Of course, it is all for fun, but we hope some learning takes place, as well,” stated Kelly.
Duncan agreed, “We hope kids and parents will work together on this project to develop a budget and figure costs and how it impacts what you can charge for your product. Our biggest hope is that they all have a lot of fun and make a little money, too.”
“We are hoping kids and parents take advantage of this great fun and learning opportunity,” said Duncan.
