In the book of Isaiah, we see a prophet who was exceedingly aware of the personal nature of our Heavenly Father. In chapter 40, he writes about God, “He calls them all by name; because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not a single one of them are missing.” I love this! He knows my name and knows where I am. I can never be missing to God. Even though no one else may know where you are at times, God always knows and we will never go missing to Him.
In chapter 41, God says, “I have chosen you and not rejected you. Do not fear for I am with you.” Oh how many times do we all need that reassurance that we have been chosen and not rejected. And we need that reassurance that we do not have to fear anything in this life, because He is always with us. What peace these verses bring to our hearts.
In chapter 42, Isaiah reminds us again, “I am the Lord. I have called you in righteousness. I will also hold you by the hand and watch over you.” Does that not call to mind the image of a loving parent holding tightly to a little child’s hand as they cross the street or stand in a crowd? That protecting love that cares and comforts. Oh how many times have we been comforted by the knowledge that this loving Father is holding our hands?
In chapter 43, God says we are precious to Him. We are honored, and He says “I love you.” Those precious words that we so love to hear from others. To know that we are seen as precious and honored and most of all, loved by someone means so much. But to know that we are loved by God is amazing. This great God of the universe. This God who made all things and knows all things. This God who is all-powerful is saying “I love you” to each of us right now.
Then in chapter 44, He says He will write on our hands, “Belonging to the Lord.” There will be no doubt as to whom we belong. We belong to the Lord! He has written it on our hands! He wants everyone to know that we are His. Just like we put our names on the things that are of value to us, so everyone will know that it is ours, so does God write on our hands that we are His! Make no mistake about it. We belong to the Lord!
Oh I love this personal God that I serve. I love that He sees me as His. He sees me as precious. He sees me as worthy of all His great gifts. He sees me and says, “There is Gina! She belongs to Me!” Oh how much better can it get!
The very personal love of the Heavenly Father makes the difference.
