“Walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory” 1 Thessalonians 2:12

Many places in the New Testament call us to “walk worthy.” In Ephesians 4:1, Paul writes, ” Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.”  In Colossians 1:10, again Paul writes, “Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.”

Clearly, God intends for us to walk a certain way. But can we ever actually walk worthy? The truth is that nothing we could ever do in a jillion years would make us worthy of the gift of God’s salvation for us. How on earth could I ever live a life that would be worthy of God giving His own Son to live and then die a horrible death on the cross? There is no way. But, we can walk, or live our lives, in a manner that shows the world who we serve.

Once you have accepted the free gift of salvation for yourself, your daily walk, or how you do things should change. We should begin to see the world differently. We should look at the world the way God sees it, loving forgiving, serving. I remember when I was a little girl, one of my Sunday school teachers asked us what we were showing the world. She asked us, “What if you are the only Jesus your friends ever see? Would they see enough about Him to want Him in their own lives?” Her question has stuck with me down through the years. Am I living a life that points to Jesus, or am I living a life like everyone else and showing the world nothing about Jesus?

We are called to walk worthy in our lives. We are called, as God’s children, to show the world His love in all we do. Whether we are at work, home, school, football field, tennis court, shopping, or anywhere else we might be, we should be living a life that just glows with Jesus! People should not have to guess who our Savior is. They should know it by the lives we live. By the way we speak. By the way we show love to others.

Are you walking worthy of being called a Child of God? Are you living your life pointing others to Jesus? It will make a difference!
