As Spring continues and Summer is on its way, more people will be getting going outdoors and doing activities, and that includes Brownfield’s Gillham/Powell Park & Pond (Duck Pond).
In recent weeks, the City of Brownfield has cleaned up around the pond, plus trimmed trees. The Terry County Sheriff’s Dept. also has begun to help with the cleanup of the park and pond. They have been able to use a few inmates, plus those that have community service.
As you can tell from the pictures, the Duck Pond is not clean. Sheriff Timothy Click and Brownfield City Manager Jeff Davis is asking the public to please dispose of and discard any and all trash into the several trash cans located at the park.
“We just want it to look clean and good for everyone. We’ve come out here, and it’s going to take a few days, but we all to be mindful about picking up our trash and placing it where it goes.” Said Sheriff Click.
Davis also reiterated by saying, “Please throw away your trash. It’ll take all of us, but we just want our parks to look good and be clean.”
