Mobile home destroyed in fire

A fire, around 11 a.m. on Monday resulted in the total loss of a mobile home. The home was located on North Ballard near Oak Grove Elementary and the Cub Baseball Field.

The call came out around 11:06 and the home was almost totally engulfed.

Reports at the scene were that two people lived in the home, along with a cat. Only one person was home at the time, and he was able to escape unharmed.

A call was made to other Fire Departments for additional support. The City Electric Utility guys also helped out.

The fire has been called accidental and appeared, according to reports at the scene, to have started in the kitchen.

The one resident who escaped harm told TownTalk Media that it was he and his dad living there. They both work at the Ropes Co-op Gin and he works nights, while his dad works days.

The family is currently staying with other family members in town.
