In a game that was never in doubt, the reining State Champion Lady Cubs showed they are still going to be tough to beat. All five starters are fresh off the volleyball court where they made a deep run in the playoffs, falling in the Region Seminfinal round. The Lady Cubs routed Estacado by a score of 65-29.
The Ladies had a 19-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, which they stretched to a 31-17 halftime edge.
When the Ladies came out in the second half, they were firing on all cylinders and held the Lady Mats to just six points in each of the final two quarters.
Gabi Fields had the hot hand and led all scorers with 20 points. Dabria Blackwell had nine and Tia Johnson had 8, while sister Deja followed up with seven.
The Ladies will be off the remaining Thanksgiving break before hitting their home court on Tuesday, November 30 against Tascosa. The game is scheduled to have a 6:15 p.m. tip-off.
