New electronic sign dedicated at Meadow

by admin

A great new electronic sign was dedicated on the yard of the Meadow Farmer’s Coop Gin on Friday morning, November 5, in the fog. The sign was the brainchild of former Burleson Elementary Mayor Riggin Day. Riggin was elected Mayor of Burleson Elementary last year as a fifth grader and began working on collecting money for the sign, along with his principal Tabitha Coffman.

Coffman stated, “We are standing here today because you all showed what happens when a community unites. You all came through for us. We were able to raise over $50,000 through your generous donations and were able to purchase an even bigger sign that will be enjoyed for years to come.”

Three groups who donated were recognized with permanent plaques on the sign because of their great generosity. These are Terry County Tractor, Meadow Volunteer Fire Department, and AgTexas.

Former Mayor Day stated, “This project shows that if you put in hard work, dedication, and effort, it is all worth it in the end. I want to thank Mrs. Coffman for her support and help in this project.”

Money raising efforts were begun over a year ago, and a ground breaking for the sign was held this past summer.

Contributors to the sign (other than those already mentioned) recognized were:

South Plains Implement

Chemical Weed Control

Meadow Co-op Gin

Ray and Jean Gober

CHS

Dr. Tracy McBee

Dr. Kelly Riley

Leonard and Shirley Melcher

Terry County Vet

HF&C Feed

Be sure and notice this really great sign on your next trip to or through Meadow! You can’t miss it!
