There has been a rash of car break-ins and burglaries lately in Brownfield. Many security videos of a person attempting to break in to vehicles have been seen on social media. Most of these were reported on Tuesday morning, June 15.
Residents woke up to find their vehicles gone through. Items reported stolen included personal information, money, and a handgun.
Patrol officers and detectives investigated all information, which quickly led to a suspect being named.
Brownfield Police Chief Tony Serbantez has reported that a suspect is in custody in connection to the burglaries. The suspect was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15.
Currently in Terry County Law Enforcement Center is 21 year-old Deveen Reed. He is at this time facing charges of:

He is being held under the following bonds:

The case is still under investigation.

Chief Serbantez urges citizens to lock their vehicles to prevent thefts and to not leave valuables, money, guns, or keys inside the vehicle when parked.
