8th Annual Terry County Vineyard Festival a huge success

COVID may have caused the changes, but this year’s festival was certainly a great one. Due to concerns around the pandemic, lots had to change in order for the event to be held, but nothing could hold back the fun had by all who attended Saturday evening’s event.

The event is usually held in early August, but had to be put off due to COVID issues. The event is also normally a two day event, complete with bus tours of local vineyards and is usually held inside the Reddy Vineyards Red Barn Event Center. All of that changed.

This year’s event, while still held at Reddy Vineyard’s, thanks to gracious host Vijay Reddy and his crew, was a one evening outdoor event. And nobody complained. Especially after the sun went down!

Brownfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lorena Valencia had hoped that planning the event in late September would make the temperatures more tolerable. However, temperatures officially reached 99 degrees on Saturday in an unseasonable early fall temperature swing.

The event was planned and laid out of the east side of the two story barn in the middle of the vineyard which helped everyone stay cool and in the shade. The wineries had tents set up to keep themselves and their customers cool. But, as the sun went down, the temperature did, as well, and the fun continued.

Local restaurant Tencha’s was joined by the Back 40 Grill, Mac’s Barbecue, and Harrigan’s to offer so many dining delights, that people kept going back for more.

Wineries participating included The Triple De, Llano, Church House, Farmhouse, Reddy, and Antima Cellars. Attendees got a free tasting from each winery with their ticket and then could purchase additional glasses or bottles.

The Local Nobody’s provided the music that was excellent and perfect for this wonderful evening of fun. A silent auction was held to go along with all the other activities of the day. All 120 tickets allotted for the event were sold and it appeared that at least that many were there.

There were many out of towners there who stated they will certainly be back to this great event next year.

It was another wonderful event sponsored by your Brownfield Chamber of Commerce!
