One last opportunity to impress Santa remains for the Texas Tech men’s basketball team which hosts Houston Christian at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the United Supermarkets Arena. The Red Raiders are currently on a 27-game home winning streak with a 6-0 home record this season.

Tech (8-2) is coming off a 102-52 win over Jackson State last Saturday in Houston for its fourth straight victory, while the Huskies (3-9) lost a pair of games to UTRGV coming into the matchup in Lubbock. Tech is 7-0 all-time in the series, including taking a 103-74 win back on November 13, 2019, at Midland College.

Kevin Obanor leads the Red Raiders through 10 games with 15.3 points per game after going for 16 points in the win over JSU, while Daniel Batchoremains at 13.0 points and 8.3 rebounds after missing the past two games with injury. He is listed as day-to-day. Tech is coming off a season-high 13 made 3-pointers against JSU and is now shooting 48.3 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from the arc. Pop Isaacs leads the team with 20 3-pointers and is averaging 10.3 points per game while senior De’Vion Harmon is at 11.0 points per game and leads the team with 3.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Jaylon Tyson returned to the starting lineup against JSU after missing the game against Nicholls due to injury and went for 11 points and five rebounds. He’s now averaging 9.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. The win over JSU featured season-bests from D’Maurian Williams who went for a team-high 17 points with five 3-pointers in the second half, 15 points from KJ Allen, and eight points each from Elijah Fisher, Lamar Washington, and Kerwin Walton.

Tech will take a couple of days off for Christmas before hosting South Carolina State at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 27 in the USA. The game will be the final non-conference contest before the start of Big 12 play which begins against No. 20 TCU on Saturday, December 31 in Fort Worth. The Red Raiders will host No. 4 Kansas on Tuesday, January 3 in their first Big 12 home game after going 9-0 at home last season against conference opponents.
