On Monday, January 13th, at approximately 2:15 PM, Brownfield Fire & Rescue responded to a major accident at the intersection of US Hwy 380 (west) and FM 303, roughly five and a half miles west of Brownfield.
According to law enforcement at the scene, a late-model white Ram 2500 utility truck equipped with a crane lift was stopped at the intersection of US Hwy 380 and FM 303, facing east while preparing to turn left (north) onto FM 303. The driver of the Ram waited for other traffic to clear before making the turn. As the Ram began to turn, it was struck from behind by a late-model white Chevy Express cargo van that was towing a white utility/box trailer.
The Chevy and trailer rolled over once, ending up facing north in the south ditch near the intersection. First responders onsite stated that the driver of the Chevy van did not apply the brakes before the collision. There were four people in the van, two of whom suffered critical injuries. All four occupants were transported to the hospital, with the two in critical condition being taken to an unknown hospital in Lubbock.
Terry County Sheriff Dept., BRMC EMS (2 units), Brownfield Fire & Rescue, Wellman Volunteer Fire, Texas DPS, and TxDOT responded to the accident.
