As we dive into Week 3, it’s clear that things are shaping up. It’s Thursday, Sept. 11th, and the Brownfield Cubs are set to host Roosevelt, and the Wellman-Union Wildcats will take on Paducah tonight, both featuring a 9/11 tribute service that promises to be meaningful. The Meadow Broncos will travel over to Loop tomorrow night. Last week, I scored 60 out of 90, and I’m optimistic that this week will deliver even better results!

The Clyde Bulldogs will head over to Shally. This is a huge test for Clyde to see if they can handle success. I have Shally winning this one.
In a battle of two Top-25 teams from the Wichita Falls area, Vernon (3A DI) and City View (3A DII) will face off at City View. In the past three seasons, Vernon has had the upper hand with a 2-1 record against City View. I’m picking Vernon.
Another exciting matchup features two top-10 teams, as #10 Jim Ned (3A DI) travels to face #3 Wall (3A DII). Both teams have played against each other for eight consecutive seasons. They have faced off once in the 2017 playoffs and four times in district play, with Wall winning two games and Jim Ned winning the other two. Over the past three seasons, the average score difference has been just 2.33 points. I’ve chosen Wall to win this game.
In the six-man division, #9 Borden County (1A DI) will host #7 Benjamin (1A DII). While Dave Campbell’s predictions favor the Coyotes, I’m going with the Mustangs. This should be a great game.
Another top-10 six-man football matchup features #1 Gordon (1A DI) hosting #6 Strawn (1A DII). It’s unfortunate the game isn’t in Strawn, as Mary’s Cafe is a well-known winner in Texas! These two schools have a rivalry that spans over a century; they sit in the same county and are only 8.5 miles apart. While Dave Campbell’s picks the Longhorns to win, I’m also going with them.
