August 26, 1934 – November 14, 2021
Vernon Brice Wagner of San Saba, Texas passed away on November 14, 2021 in Lakeway hospital surrounded by his family. He was 87 years of age. He had struggled with health problems for the last few years.
Brice was born on August 26, 1934 in Post, Texas to Leonard Vernon and Movelda Aquila Wagner. He had polio when he was a youngster, but he never let that bother him. Brice attended Union School in his younger years and then attended Brownfield schools where he graduated in 1952. From grade school up through high school he worked on the farms with his grandfather, Peanut Wagner and his father, L.V. Wagner. After he graduated, Brice farmed and worked in the oil field in Dawson and Howard Counties. In 1957 he helped build the North Gin for his Uncle Jack Wagner. From the early 60’s to the 80’s he farmed in the Union area. During that time, he was co- owner of NBC Equipment and the in the early 80’s opened up White’s Auto. In 1982 he moved overseas and was the drilling supervisor in Maracaibo Venezuela on an off shore drilling rig. From the early 90’s to present time Brice and Margie were buying and selling at flea markets.
Brice met the love of his life Margie Hill and they were married on April 21, 1972. They were married for 49 years. He was her Knight in Shining Armor.
Brice was preceded in death by his parents, a son Rick Wagner, a daughter Toni Pounds, great granddaughter Madison Colburn, a sister Maureen Smith and son in law Jim Phillips.
Brice is survived by his wife Margie, children Butch Wagner (Kaye), Cheryl Phillips, Gena Colburn, Vickie Figueroa (Eugene), Victor Hill, KC Hill (Terri), Misty Wagner. Also, he has 21 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Celebration will be held at a later date.
