Valentin DeLeon Rojas, 82, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in San Angelo, with his family at his side.
He was born on Thursday, Oct. 26, 1933, in Seguin, Texas, to the late Valentin Lozano and Teresa DeLeon Rojas. Valentin was of Catholic faith. He enjoyed countless hours barbequing for family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Valentin was preceded in death by his parents; 13 siblings; and his wife, Ignacia Flores Rojas. They were married over 30 years at the time of her passing in 1996.
Survivors include his children and their spouses, Maryellen and “Lupe” Garza of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Yolanda Rojas of Brownfield, Texas, Carlos Sr. and Beatrice Rojas of Brownfield, Texas, Isabel and Pete Lara Jr., George and Irma Rojas, Teresa and Rudy Santellano and Tina Rojas, all of San Angelo; 13 grandchildren, Steven Garza, Renee Garza, Carlos Rojas Jr., Christopher Rojas, Leslie Jackson, Joe David Mata, Sylvia Arambula, Anthony Lara III, Jonathan Lara, Rudy Santellano Jr., Jennifer Govea, Maryann Gonzalez and Reyna Perez; 20 great-grandchildren; sister Juanita Aguilar; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Fr. Emilio Sosa will officiate. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
