Terry County Youth Sports (TCYS) finds troubling information

According to Terry County Youth Sports (TCYS), the board has become aware of concerning issues regarding the organization’s finances. During an initial investigation, suspicious activity was discovered in the TCYS bank account. This investigation revealed transactions unrelated to TCYS. Consequently, the current treasurer has been removed from their position. According to the TCYS’s website, Brandi Collins is listed as the treasurer on the “2025 Board Members” page.

In a Facebook post on TCYS’s page, it was said, “We are aware this is troubling as this breaks trust with the community. We are currently turning over records to Brownfield PD and will cooperate fully with their investigation.”

TCYS has also stated that, due to misuse of funds, the organization does not have enough money to pay referees for the remainder of the season. The board members have covered the costs out of pocket to bring the bank balance back above zero. The board is asking for donations to help make the rest of the season possible. Also, for transparency, the organization typically pays referees $40 per game, and a whole Saturday of games costs approximately $600 to pay all officials.

For now, games will proceed as scheduled. If anyone has questions, TCYS has asked to message them on their Facebook page. TCYS has also asked the patient to be patient with them, as the board members have jobs and are also dealing with the investigation.

TCYS has stated that in the future, they will publish monthly bank statements to ensure the public is informed about how funds are being spent. The board also said, “Thank you for your understanding and support.”
