On Thursday afternoon, March 27th, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers reported that a 37-year-old man from Tahoka, Johnathan Escobedo, led DPS troopers on a high-speed chase that ended in Brownfield, near the 100 block of West Hill. Lubbock police had previously been alerted about a stolen vehicle, the one Escobedo was driving. DPS Troopers located the vehicle at a game room outside Wolfforth, which prompted the chase. Reports indicate that the pursuit reached speeds of nearly 120 mph while traveling through Wolfforth, Ropes, and Meadow. DPS was ultimately able to forcibly stop the vehicle. Escobedo then fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by troopers. Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the pursuit or the apprehension. Escobedo will now face multiple charges. Escobedo has been booked into the Terry County Law Enforcement Center with a warrant charging him with Theft of Property 2/more previous convictions. More charges are likely to come.
