The Sports Beat Show was packed with local and regional sports talk as we covered another exciting week in athletics across the South Plains. We started the show by discussing the impressive seasons from the Texas Tech Lady Raiders Softball team and Texas Tech Baseball as both programs continue making headlines. We also talked about the fallout surrounding Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorby and the latest discussion surrounding the Red Raider football program.
Locally, we gave a huge shoutout to the Brownfield Cubs Baseball team for capturing the Bi-District Championship and continuing their playoff run. We also talked about the Brownfield Lady Cubs Softball team and their hard-fought season that came to an end in the Area Round of the playoffs.
Track and field was another major focus of the show as we recognized the athletes from Brownfield High School, Meadow High School, and Wellman-Union High School who have qualified for the Regional Track Meet. We highlighted the accomplishments and dedication of student-athletes representing their schools and communities on the track this postseason.
We also celebrated a big milestone for Brownfield standout Jeron Lawrence, who officially signed with Wayland Baptist University to continue his basketball career at the collegiate level.
