For several months, TxDOT has been doing a “rehabilitation of existing road & safety improvements projects” on US 62/385 from Brownfield to Wellman. TxDOT will move past Wellman going south after the current project is completed to carry out the same “rehabilitation of existing road & safety improvements projects” from Wellman to the Terry/Gaines County lines. TxDOT began on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024 the seal coat project on US 380 from the Yoakum County line to the intersection of West Main and 9th Street in Brownfield. According to TxDOT, this project will take about four days to complete this section of the seal coat project. After completing the 380 West project, TxDOT will move to US 380 for a seal coat project from the Terry/Lynn County lines to Tahoka.

TxDOT is set to begin work on a project that will make improvements to major roadways in Terry and Yoakum counties (Brownfield, Denver City & Plains). The $6 million project will mill the existing roadways, place a new surface, and re-stripe the road. Tahoka Rd. (US 380) in Brownfield will be a part of this tri-city project and will receive a facelift from the intersection of Lubbock Rd. and Tahoka Rd. to Gillham Park. According to the contractors, this will take about four days. The contracting company will begin the work in the next few weeks.

Road construction for North Cedar from Tahoka Rd. to Stewart St. is set to begin next week, Monday, Aug. 12. This is a City of Brownfield project and according to contractors will last about four days. The construction company will mill out the road two inches, add a crown, layover with a new asphalt surface, and stripe the road. The City of Brownfield is asking to aviod North Cedar during this time and use the entrances off Tahoka Rd. for United Supermarket, and use Cub Drive for school purposes.
