The Brownfield Fire & Rescue was called out Sunday night, June 18, 2023, around 11:05 pm to respond to a semi-truck accident. The accident took place on Texas Highway 137 and US Highway 385 (Levelland Hwy). According to law enforcement, the driver of the truck, Fernando Gonzalez Mendoza, was driving north on TX-137 when he failed to make the right turn that intersects with US-385. Mendoza would travel through one of the arrow caution signs, hitting and breaking in half an electrical power pole. The truck and 54 ft. trailer would turnover on the driver’s side coming to a stop about 120 feet from leaving the road.
Mendoza was transported to BRMC for unknown injuries. The truck was registered out of Brownsville TX. Terry County Sheriff’s Dept., Brownfield Fire & Rescue, Meadow Fire Dept., and BRMC EMS responded to the scene.
