Monroe Elijah DeBusk departed this life on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at the age of 94 years. He was born on Dec. 14, 1920, to C.H. (Tip) and Nettie Acrey DeBusk in Cross Cut, Texas. He moved to Idalou in 1922. Monroe married Nora Louise (Tennie) Pendleton on May 12, 1941, in Lubbock. He attended Idalou Schools and Texas Tech University. He enlisted in the Army in 1944 and served proudly in the 3rd Army Infantry during WWII under the direction of General George S. Patton. Monroe fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He farmed for over 80 years in Lubbock County. He passionately loved his Lord, family, community, farms, and country. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 71 years, Tennie; sons, Gary (Rhonda) DeBusk of Idalou and Ronald (Brenda) DeBusk of Brownfield; niece, Loretta (Ute) Becton of Idalou; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Milton DeBusk; three brothers; and four sisters. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Idalou United Methodist Church with Pastor Brooks Morton officiating. Interment will follow in the Idalou Cemetery.
