On Saturday, December 10, four members of The Spirit of the Plains auditioned for seats in the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Region 16 Honor Band. All four earned seats in the Band which will perform at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center on January 28, 2023. This event is a qualifying audition that leads to the ATSSB Texas All-State Band. BHS Band Director Will Burks said, “I’m impressed with the work ethic these students exhibit and the musicality that results from their work.”
The students placed as follows:
Aubree Valenzuela, 4th Chair Trumpet; AREA A Qualifer
Jacob Arguellez, 3rd Chair Trombone; Area A Qualifier
Braden Conn, 5th Chair Euphonium
Ryan Gamez, 10th Chair Tuba
The AREA A Audition will be held at Levelland High School on Saturday, January 7.
