In mid-December 2022, Meadow ISD announced that its Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Josh Conner would be leaving the school district at the end of the semester to pursue a different profession, leaving Meadow ISD in search of a new head football coach and possibly AD.

Meadow found their guy and hired Jacob Guzman as the Bronco’s new Head Football coach. Coach Guzman is currently the head football coach at Savoy ISD which is 15 miles east of Sherman TX and about six miles south of the Red River (Texas/Oklahoma State line) Guzman’s first stop was at (Roscoe) Highland ISD as a defensive coach for 2 years for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Guzman would face during those two seasons two state championship teams in district, which was Sterling City and Westbrook.
Of course, Guzman is no stranger to six-man football and west Texas as he was raised in Hermleigh, about 11 miles southeast of Snyder. During his time as a football player at Hermleigh, Guzman was force to be reckoned with on defence. Guzman and the Cardinals had a great season in 2015, where he was named 1st Team All-District on defence out of District 7-1A DI.

Aftrer graduating in 2016, Guzman would go straight to Angelo State Univeristy and graduate in three years. Guzman has wife who will be teaching science classes at Meadow ISD.
Guzman said, “I Started off as a Defensive Coordinator but I’ve transitioned into an Offensive coordinator role but I think everything I do derives from the defense. I am excited to get to Meadow… I am at Savoy right now which is in East Texas so we are excited to go back to west Texas. I think the thing that separates West Texans from the rest of the state is the values of hard work and good character, so that’s something my family and I are excited to come back to.”
Guzman is, “blessed and ready to get to work”.
