The kiddos were delighted to see the Masked Rider from Texas Tech at Story Time in the Amphitheater on Wednesday morning, even though her horse, Fearless Champion, did not get to make the trip.
Ashley Adams, who is the current Masked Rider, greeted the kids who had tons of questions for her. Ranging from “Why do you wear a mask?” to “Where is your horsey?” (asked several times by excited little ones). She patiently got down on their level and answered their questions and promised that she would be back with Fearless Champion very soon.
She stated that she has not yet gotten to participate in football games, but so far her favorite part of being the Masked Rider is just exactly what she was doing, talking to children about Tech.
“I have always loved horses. When I was ten, my parents promised me that if I could earn $1,000, I could buy a horse. I was able to do that and they figured out this was not some passing interest,” stated Ashley. She has been on the Tech Rodeo Team and done Ranch Horse Competitions.
Story Time is a Summertime program of Kendrick Memorial Library and has been very popular this summer.
