Maria L. Martinez, age 82 passed from this life on March 20, 2016 at her residence in Brownfield.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Edwardo Teo officiating. Burial will follow at Brownfield Cemetery in Brownfield. Personal services have been entrusted to Mark A Jones Funeral Directors of Brownfield.
Maria was born to Pedro and Sixta Campos on June 21, 1933 in Del Rio, Texas. She moved to Brownfield in 1958. Maria met and married, the love of her life, Ignacio “Roadrunner” Martinez on March 17, 1959 in Brownfield. He precedes her in death, 54 years of marriage, on July 11, 2013.
Her family remembers how she enjoyed being a wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She was always helping take care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Maria was a very caring and helpful person to everyone that needed it. She enjoyed being around family especially Michael.
Those left to cherish her memories are: 4 sons: Joe Martinez and Freddie Ramirez both of Brownfield, Ramond Martinez (Teresa)of Humble and Don Ramirez (Rosie) of Baytown; 5 Daughters: Mary Sepeda (Fred), Norma Antuna (Larry) and Josie Martinez all of Brownfield, Brenda Martinez of Sweetwater and Beatriz Rossette (Robert) of Lubbock; 1 brother: Gustavo Campos of San Angelo; 3 sisters: Minnie Ramirez of Ozona, Delores Malando of Del Rio and Hortensia Gamez of Fort Worth.
She was also blessed with 35 grandchildren 52 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Maria is preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter: Juanita Rivera, 1 son: Johnny Martinez; 2 Granddaughters: Monica Adams and Kristina Cruz; 1 grandson: Marcus Martinez and 2 brothers: Thomas Campos and Pedro Campos, Jr.
