Update on the Police Chase that Ended in Brownfield
According to law enforcement, Erik Almaguaron led police on a pursuit that ended in Brownfield. On Monday evening, October 6th, around 8:51 PM, an officer from the Lubbock Police Department attempted to stop a white, late-model four-door Chevy pickup in the parking lot of the 6000 block of Slide Road. The vehicle immediately attempted to flee, leading to a police chase. During the pursuit, a female passenger was able to exit the truck near 60th Street and Slide Road, while Almaguaron continued to flee west onto the Marsha Sharp Freeway, leaving the city limits.

Law enforcement contacted the Wolfforth Police Department, Terry County Sheriff’s Office, and Brownfield Police Department for assistance. The Brownfield Police Department deployed spike strips to help apprehend Almaguaron. Although the spike strips were able to slow down the truck, Almaguaron turned west onto West Cardwell Street, where one of the pursuing officers performed a PIT maneuver to forcibly stop the vehicle at the intersection of South 3rd Street and West Cardwell.
Almaguaron was removed from the truck after a brief struggle, involving the use of a police K-9. He was subsequently taken into custody and placed in the Terry County Law Enforcement Center (TCLEC Jail) by the Brownfield Police Department.

Almaguaron is currently being held in the TCLEC with a total bond of $480,000. He faces multiple charges, including four counts of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance (4g-200g), evading arrest, tampering with evidence, unlawful carrying of a weapon as a convicted misdemeanor for family violence, possession of a prohibited substance or item in a correctional facility, and a parole violation.
