Making a Difference

I took some kiddos out to the farm and around with me yesterday. They are actually students who have become certified drone pilots. They are helping me with a video project for work. Not my point, but as a side note, isn’t it amazing what our kids are learning in school today? Stuff we surely never dreamed of! Heck! We thought Dick Tracy’s two-way radio wrist watch was a thing of science fiction! Yet, here we are.

As I watched Kanyon and John work and get things together and then follow all the correct procedure, even though we were in the middle of nowhere and there was going to be no one to check up on them, I was just amazed at the quality of kiddos we are raising. Sure, the kids who are making questionable choices are getting all the press, but for every one of those, there are at least ten who are getting up, going to school, learning, going home and staying out of trouble. I believe it because I see it every day.

The other thing that amazed me was their willingness and excitement about learning and seeing new things. We pulled up to where the cattle were and got out. Both guys were startled at them. They both said that was the closest they had ever been to cows! But, they dove right in and were so interested in all that was being done. They asked a hundred questions of the cowboy in residence. All of which he patiently answered. And they really wanted to learn!

We went on and took video of peanuts being harvested. Cotton harvest. They got video of a cotton field that they both said looked just like snow. They loved the color of the maize that had turned all red and orange. They commented on how blue the sky was out there and how you could just see forever. In that moment, these two senior boys that I have watched grow up almost from birth were just two little kids amazed at God’s creations and our place in His world.

The point of all that is this, when did you last look around in wonder? Look around and appreciate the things of God that we see every day. Look around and see them all as if you were seeing it all for the very first time.

Our God is so precious and good to us. He gives us so many blessings each day. Not because we deserve them. Certainly not! But just because He loves us so much. In fact, He loves us so much that He gave His very one and only Son to die just for you. Just for me. Now that is a love that is amazing.

Look around today and be amazed! Thank God for all the blessings all around us. Then work hard to show your gratitude to Him. Not because He expects it, but because He deserves it. It will make a difference!
